In our most recent event, The Sound Series Project held at The Arena in collaboration with Youth Organsior, Oliver,  Catalogue:V came through as the MOST POPULAR BAND OF THE NIGHT.  We managed to sneak out some time from them to find out more about the successful band.

First things first guys, introductions!
Crystal:
Hello!  Cataloque:V is led by Alfredo, 24, on guitars.  Razil, 25, on vocals.  Ikhmal, 23, on bass.  Wahyu, 26, on drums and last but not least me, Crystal, 24, on keyboards.

Why the name Catalogue:V?
Ikhmal:
Well, the term “Catalogue” implies a list of contents, diversely collected from a single product and since the Roman numeral for “5” is “V”, we find it fitting to name ourselves Catalogue:V.

How did the band get together?
Razil:
It's by happy chance that we met each other, the catalyst being Alfredo who, believe it or not, found me through an online local music forum and it was the only post I replied to!  Everything else just snowballed from there. We found the rest soon after.

What are the usual genres you perform?
Razil: We're highly focused on mainstream sounds. I guess you can safely say that we're going pop. We like to fuse pop elements and not pigeon-hole ourselves to one particular pop-style, thus we coined our own genre; Schizo-Pop.

Favourite Artiste / band for each of you?
Razil:
Stevie Wonder,Jamiroquai
Fred:
Jimmi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Tom Morello
Ikhmal:
The Reign Of Kindo, Kaddisfly
Crystal:
Enya, Enigma, Dirty South

What got you guys on the music scene?
Alfredo: My family has always been into music so i just followed suit.
Crystal: I got my first keyboard when i was still in my diapers and i played my first song when i was 5.
Razil: Everyone in my family can sing.  It'll feel weird if i don't, ain't it?
Ikhmal: When i was seven, my mum bought me a 911 CD and i was hooked ever since.

Tell us, what is the hardest part you face being in a band?
Razil:
Time management
Fred:
Blending the Different sounds and playing style... and on top of it all, time management with life and the band. Mal's nonsensical antics... hahaha
Ikhmal:
Mixing "having fun" and "being serious"
Crystal:
 Balancing work and music.

Choose one record label you would love to work with and why?
Crystal:
We can't possibly choose one as we're sure that each label would promote and represent their artiste well,or even better, than their rivals. It's a very competitive industry.

What’s most important in a band?
Alfredo:
Cooperation, mutual respect and commitment. These act like a tripod supporting the band, without any one of these, the band won't be stable.

How will you sum up in one sentence your band's experience?
All:
Nothing beats making music and being on stage with your good friends!
